Bonded Seals are sealing discs used to seal screwed and flanged connections. They consist of a metallic flat ring and an elastic rubber seal bead. The carrier material is usually steel, stainless steel or aluminium. Various qualities of elastomer are used for the seal bead, depending on the application. Bonded Seals are also self-centering and available as shaped gaskets.
Solid Sealing Rings are used when gaskets compressibility is not the main characteristic, with this type of ring the sealing is made from the compression with very high load, which in some cases must be higher than the ultimate tensile stress of the ring. It is necessary to produce gaskets with lower hardness material than the flanges one. The metal rings are used on flanges with double casing, on valves caps for high temperatures and pressures. Their sealing and assembly properties can be further improved by applying various surface coatings, such as tin or wax.
The Filled Sealing Rings and Gaskets are composed of an insert in asbestos-free joint, carton board, PTFE or other material, with a metal strip covering (total or partial). They are easily compressible, with a right selection of the materials, the filled sealing rings and gaskets could withstand to high temperatures and pressures, they could support compression from 20% and 30% on the original thickness. The sealing is made through the compression of the central part of the gasket due to the clamping of it between the flanges. The corrugated gaskets are used, in order to improve the sealing, because they create a labyrinth seal. The gaskets are supplied in every shapes (circular, oval and rectangular) and they can be built with no size limitations.
Spiralwound Gaskets are composed of a shaped strip, which give them elasticity; the coiled, metal strip, under a constant graduated tension, has got an insulating material interposed.
These gaskets obtain very good sealing results, due to their components:- the sealing edges multiplied from the spiralization of the steel strip;
- the insulating material, which do not permit the fluid flowing (graphite, ceramic-fibers and PTFE are used as filler).
Thanks to their elasticity spiralwound gaskets could be used, with low load of clamping, to compensate the irregular surfaces of the flanges. In order to obtain very good results, the compression must be effected with a prefixed pressure.
Special Gaskets are manufactured in accordance with customers' specific requirements. All we need is a drawing or a sample piece and we can produce special gaskets in a wide range of different materials and shapes.
